How to join this l10n team

Seven steps for newcomers to learn how to join your l10n team. To help localize Mozilla products and websites into Romanian:

  1. Introduce yourself to the Mozilla Romania community by emailing the mailing list.
  2. Create a Pootle account to submit translation suggestions.
  3. Contact Ioana Chiorean at ioana[DOT]chiorean[AT]gmail[DOT]com, Cristian Silaghi at cristian[DOT]silaghi[AT]mozilla[DOT]ro and Raul Malea at raul[DOT]malea[AT]gmail[DOT]com. Include your Pootle username.
  4. Study the localization and translation guide for Romanian and use the correct diacritics and punctuation marks (ă, ș, ț, î, â, „” «» etc.). We use ș and ț with comma, not cedilla. Be careful!
  5. Become familiar with translation reference tools, like Pootle and Transvision, to know how to provide translations that are consistent with the existing translations.
  6. After you've submitted translation suggestions, follow up with Cristian and Raul to get feedback on your contributions.
  7. If you find bugs in the existing translation, please file a bug here.

SUMO Localization

To help localize http://support.mozilla.org/ro into Romanian:

  1. Create a SUMO account
  2. If you can, get in touch with the Group Leader(s) listed here via a Private Message. If there is nobody listed there, please get in touch with Michał / vesper.
  3. Read our universal l10n documentation here. For language-specific documentation, please get in touch with your Group Leader(s).
  4. Visit your language thread in the forums and introduce yourself to the community. We don’t bite, unless you’re made of cake.
  5. Look at the localization dashboard for SUMO in Romanian and translate a SUMO article.
  6. When you're done, notify the team for them to review your work by emailing the mailing list.
  7. You're ready to go! If you have any questions, ask them on the forums.
