Firefox Desktop

Release (13, 10esr)

• FF13.0.1 was released unthrottled last Friday (with this changeset) - the Firefox 13/13.0.1 post-mortem was held yesterday morning

• External issues with FF13
  • bug 762062 – Firefox startup crash in JS_HoldPrincipals (Correlation to Skype 6.0.0.10201)
    • Skype believes they have a fix rolling out in a matter of days, so we've decided to hold off on blocklisting

• External issues affecting all recent Firefox versions
  • bug 763444 – Flash crash F1398665248_____________________________
    • Adobe believes they have a fix, this remains our top issue for Firefox
    • Workarounds: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes
  • bug 763459 – RealPlayer Browser record plugin breaks Youtube since Fx13
    • Real is working on a fix, we've blocklisted the add-on versions which were contributing
    • Other workarounds, if the blocklist doesn't resolve the issue: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-doesnt-load-video-firefox

Beta (14)

• We are in our third week of the cycle - Firefox 14 Beta 8 will be shipping this week

Aurora (15)

• Unless any new blockers are found, background updates will be enabled for Windows users by early next week

Firefox Mobile

Beta (14)

• Fennec Native 14 beta 8 is available, but will not be shipped externally

Aurora (15)

• New Tabs UI for phones (with swipe) and the beginnings of our tablet UI are being uplifted today

Add-on SDK

Release (1.7 -> Firefox 12, 13)

Stabilization (1.8 -> Firefox 13, 14)

• SDK 1.8 is on track to be released next Tuesday, June 26th

Development ( 1.9 -> Firefox 14, 15 )

• Jetpack CommonJS loader landed on m-c Tuesday, June 19th.

Google

• Google has announced a "Develop for Good" Hackathon for hackers to tackle issues around repressive political regimes.
• Chrome Canary builds now have support for Apple's new Retina displays
• Independent hacker Hexxeh has ported ChromeOS to the Raspberry Pi

Microsoft

• Microsoft worked with the owners of a number of large websites, including HP.com, Shutterfly.com, UPS.com, and CNN.com to render their pages in HTML5 Standards mode rather than IE8 Compatibility mode. On average the sites loaded 30% faster in IE10 with the new settings than before. The problems included User-Agent sniffing and use of -webkit- CSS prefixes.
• Microsoft's critical updates for Internet Explorer this month include fixes for thirteen security vulnerabilities.
• Microsoft also published a detailed overview of the architecture and features of their Chakra Javascript engine. A new Javascript performance demo, "Bubbles", was also released.

Opera

• Opera 12 was officially released, with a number of "shiny demos", hardware acceleration and WebGL support, CSS3 Animations and more.

Tizen

• Tizen launched the Tizen Development Unit Program, which allows developers to get free handsets to develop against.

W3C

• The W3C published an interesting interview with the teams behind the main browsers in China - UCWeb, Huawei, Qihoo 360 and Maxthon.
• The W3C has published Media Queries as a Recommendation
